The name "molybdenum-vanadium steel" refers to a category of martensitic stainless steels that have been enriched with the addition of molybdenum and vanadium. It is therefore not a single specific alloy or grade, but a whole group of steels that serves as an absolute standard in the production of kitchen, outdoor, and workshop tools. They are often designated by the abbreviations MoV, CrMoV, or Mo-V. This group includes steel 1.4116 / X50CrMoV15, Acerinox ACX-380, as well as Asian steels like Cr13MoV or Cr15MoV. Their common feature is the presence of two key alloying elements: molybdenum and vanadium, which increase these steels' resistance to corrosion, wear, and cracking. I am creating this subcategory because the renowned Spanish knife manufacturer Cudeman describes most of its products simply as 'molybdenum-vanadium steel knives' without specifying a particular grade.
