M398 is a premium grade steel produced by Böhler-Uddeholm using a powder metallurgy process. Thanks to its high carbon (2.7%) and vanadium (7.20%) content, M398 steel can be hardened to very high levels (up to 64 HRC). It offers excellent performance in terms of edge retention, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance (due to 20% chromium content). A great knife material for those who can afford it.
