This steel (and others in this subcategory) are hardened to a moderate level, striking a balance between different properties. Blades made from 65x13, 40x13, AUS6, 420 are corrosion-resistant. While they may need frequent sharpening, the good news is you can get a sharp edge back using even a basic whetstone. Because the steel is relatively soft, the blades are shaped by rolling instead of forging.
