With a carbon content between 0.95-1.05%, the addition of alloying elements (chromium, molybdenum, vanadium, cobalt, and manganese) results in a corrosion-resistant steel that can reach a hardness of up to 62 HRC (though VG-10 blades are typically hardened to a 60-61 HRC range).
