A chromium-molybdenum-vanadium powder steel developed by Uddeholm, characterized by a combination of excellent wear resistance and good toughness. It can be hardened up to 65 HRC. In knives, however, it is rarely heat-treated to its maximum potential. The actual hardness of the products offered in our store is 64 HRC, which necessitates the use of diamond sharpeners. It is not a stainless steel (due to its 8% chromium content), but a person spending €200 or more on a knife is unlikely to slice a lemon with it and then leave it in a damp basement. Like other powder metallurgy (PM) tool steels, it is an excellent material for knife blades, although its price can be a deterrent.
