Bastardo
Description
A classic stainless steel Bowie knife from Kizlyar Supreme. One of the largest and heaviest knives in this company's offer. It looks like it was transported through time from the era of Jim Bowie, the legendary pioneer, trapper, and adventurer, whose name is the origin of this blade profile. Despite being heavier than many machetes and having a grind ideal for chopping (partially flat), it's still a knife, a tool for precise cutting and slicing. Such knives are cult objects in the USA, less so in Europe, therefore Bastardo obviously evokes the spirit of the Wild West with its appearance. Between the spine and the grind line, the blade has a slightly rough tacwash finish, as if it were made in a 19th-century forge somewhere in Texas. The knife's name is inscribed between the horns of a bison, and the leather sheath would perfectly fit a cowboy's outfit. 420 steel, stainless steel with excellent Kizlyar Supreme heat treatment with a hardness of 57 HRC. Note: except for the last two, the photos are from the manufacturer's catalog and show the first series Bastardo with the inscription below the grind line. Now the inscription "Bastardo" is located higher, between the grind line and the spine, as shown in the last two photos.
The Dagestani company Kizlyar Supreme (not to be confused with Kizlyar, also from Dagestan) is one of several Russian knife manufacturers known widely outside of Russia. Kizlyar Supreme focuses on combining the old traditions of Caucasian knife makers with the latest production technologies. Kizlyar Supreme products are the result of the work of artisans who have been making knives for generations, but today they have the most modern programmable machining centers and heat treatment furnaces.
