Description

Replica of a Yakutian knife made of H12MF steel (Western analogue - D2) with a handle made of Karelian birch (unstabilized). Yakut knives repeat the form of historical knives, originally made from split animal bones. Therefore, one side of the blade, the one without the groove, is slightly convex. The groove (full) on the other side stiffens the blade and also saves material and reduces weight. The blade is forged, with unpolished forging marks left. The handle is made of unstabilized Karelian birch wood. The handle does not have a guard or even a thickening at the base of the blade that would prevent the hand from sliding onto the blade. This is a shortcoming, but it is very common in northern knives, including Scandinavian finkas. These knives were just like that. You probably need to be a Yakut to use it effectively. The leather sheath also repeats the form of the original sheaths, next to the belt loop it has ribbons for attaching to the belt. Rockwell hardness 60-62 HRC.
