Whisper AUS10Co red
Description
Designed with Japanese motifs by American stylist Jason Breeden, the Whisper folding knife has been one of Kizlyar Supreme's hits for years. It even has a fixed blade version. As with other successful products, new material and color variants appear from time to time. Newer versions have blades on bearings. Here we have the Whisper with an AUS10Co steel blade, hardened to 60 HRC, with red and black handle scales. The blade profile remains unchanged, of course, evoking Japanese tanto daggers or a naginata spearhead. It features a partial flat grind. The diamond pattern on the G10 polymer handle scales references the decorations on katana hilts. The whole design is crowned with a clip featuring a drawing of a sakura flower. It has a liner lock mechanism. A thumb stud at the base of the blade allows for one-handed opening (protruding from both sides, so it is also suitable for left-handed users). Unfortunately, even with the bearings, the knife is quite difficult to open using the thumb stud.
The Dagestani company Kizlyar Supreme (not to be confused with Kizlyar, also from Dagestan) is one of several Russian knife manufacturers widely known outside of Russia. Kizlyar Supreme focuses on combining the ancient traditions of Caucasian knife makers with the latest production technologies. Kizlyar Supreme products are the result of the manual work of craftsmen who have been making knives for generations, except that today they have the most modern programmable machining centers and hardening furnaces at their disposal.
