Description

A new Kizlar Supreme knife that is a direct descendant of Soviet combat knives from World War II. Anyone who has ever seen the legendary scout knives like the NR-40 or NR-43 will easily recognize the Vector's heritage. The straight blade with a parallel edge and spine features a mandatory clip point tip and a high flat grind. The spine near the tip is beveled, apparently, ammo cans still will not give up without a crowbar today. It features a hidden tang construction, which is a wide tang overmolded with Kraton, with the end protruding from the pommel by about 2 mm. A fully functional combat guard has been retained in the civilian version because blades thicker than 5 mm are not subject to the restrictions for knives classified as weapons, and the Vector has a spine thickness of 5.6 mm. On the manufacturer's website, you will find discussions about how Kizlar's designers tried to create a universal knife for both tourists and hunters. I will not comment on that, one thing is certain: the knife meets the current (as of 2024) demand of the Russian knife market, where this type of equipment is sought by crowds of tourists, hunters, and probably also anglers, mushroom pickers, and pharmacists, except that all of them strangely happen to be running around in camouflage. The knife apparently sells well, as new material variants of the Vector are constantly being released. Here we have a blade made of AUS10Co steel with cryogenic hardening to 61 HRC. All Vectors have Kraton handles and rigid polypropylene sheaths. Until now, they were available in black or olive drab, this variant comes in a desert color. The blade has a TacWash finish.

The Dagestani company Kizlyar Supreme (not to be confused with Kizlyar, also from Dagestan) is one of several Russian knife manufacturers widely known outside of Russia. Kizlyar Supreme focuses on combining the ancient traditions of Caucasian knife makers with the latest production technologies. Kizlyar Supreme products are the result of the manual labor of craftsmen who have been making knives for generations, except that today they have at their disposal state-of-the-art programmable machining centers and hardening furnaces.
