Description

The new Kizlar Supreme knife is a direct descendant of Soviet combat knives from World War II. Anyone who has seen at least once the legendary scout knives such as the NR-40 and NR-43 will easily determine "where Vector's legs grow from". A straight blade with a parallel spine and edge with the obligatory clipped point tip and a high, flat grind. The spine at the tip is chamfered, what is typical of Russian military knives and is intended for opening ammunition boxes (so called "zincs" – its upper lids are so tight that do not give up without a crowbar). Hidden tang pattern -a wide tang covered with kraton, the tip protrudes from the head by about 2 mm. Fully functional combat guard - it was retained in the civilian version because blades above 5 mm do not fall under the restrictions applicable to knives classified as melee weapons, and the Vector is 5.6 mm thick. On the manufacturer's website you will find considerations on how Kizlar's designers tried to create a universal knife for both tourists and hunters. I won't comment on it, one thing is certain: the knife meets the current (i.e. as of 2024) demand of the Russian knife market, where crowds of tourists, hunters, and probably also fishermen, mushroom pickers and pharmacists are looking for this type of equipment, but strangely enough they all wear camouflage. Vectors are released in several material variants: 420HC steel, AUS -8, PGK and Elmax. All with Kraton handles and rigid polypropylene sheaths in black or olive oil. Here we have AUS-8 steel with a hardness of 58-59 HRC, the blade has a TacWash finish, which gives it a slightly grayish color.

The Dagestan company Kizlyar Supreme (not to be confused with Kizlyar, also from Dagestan) is one of several Russian knife manufacturers widely known outside Russia. Kizlyar Supreme focuses on combining the old traditions of Caucasian knife manufacturers with the latest production technologies. Kizlar Supreme products are the result of the work of craftsmen who have been making knives for generations, but today they have the most modern programmable machining centers and hardening furnaces.
