Typhoon machete
Description
The only machete currently in Kizlyar's offer. Made of 65G steel (Russian 65Г), a carbon spring steel that has been in use for decades, it embodies the simplicity and utility in tool design characteristic of the Kizlyar company. The blade, with its low flat grind, widens towards the tip, which shifts the knife's center of gravity forward, making chopping easier. The cutting edge is straight, without any curves. The tang is overmolded with elastron (an opening for a wrist lanyard at the very end of the handle confirms it is a wide tang, not a narrow rat-tail tang "sunk" in the elastron). The handle is long enough to accommodate even a large hand wearing a thick winter work glove. The blade features a hologram confirming it is an authentic Kizlyar product, the manufacturer's logo, and the inscription: "65Г Кизляр Сделано в России" and, on the other side, "Тайфун" and the manufacturer's logo. It comes with a sturdy cordura sheath with a plastic insert, MOLLE straps, and a length of paracord.
The Kizlyar company from Dagestan is one of several Russian knife manufacturers widely known outside of Russia. Kizlyar prides itself on combining the old traditions of Caucasian craftsmen specializing in blade making with new production technologies.
