Taran orange

One of the new products of 2024 from Kizlyar: a field knife with a blade made of AUS8 steel referring to old Russian military designs. The blade has a stonewash finish, a high hollow grind and a bowie profile. The knife is elegant and practical, apart from the profile itself, which I consider a misunderstanding in knives that are not modeled on the heavy American bowie, which are almost machetes, or are not strictly military gears. There, the blades are thick enough and the ability to penetrate when pushed is so important that it justifies weakening the point. In lighter structures, the risk of breaking the tip is so high that it is simply not worth it. Well, it is known that the Russians are fixated on this profile, which has survived from the first scout knives to the last series of Kalashnikov bayonets. If the customer associates the knife with the army, then that should be it. The handle is made of elastron without a guard or even a one-sided crossguard, and that's good, because no matter how hard you try, the Taran is not a military knife. It is a practical field knife, not too big, not too heavy, easy to sharpen by hand on a field whetstone and with a very good ABS sheath. The sheath has a suspension allowing you to carry the knife on a belt and an additional buckle to attach it to the belt, but in a horizontal position. The knife sits firmly in the sheath so that it can be easily attached to the carrying systems with the handle down. Japanese AUS-8 stainless steel has a hardness of 57-59 HRC. Under the handle on the blade there is an inscription: "Кизляр Сделано в России AUS-8" and the manufacturer's hologram. On the other side of the blade, the manufacturer's logo and inscription: "Таран".
