Sturm AUS10Co (desert)
Description
A full-tang tactical knife made from cryogenically hardened AUS-10Co steel. The first Sturm models were created in 2015 at the request of German customers, which is why the blade length is 119 mm. Germany has restrictions on carrying knives with blades longer than 12 cm. Military personnel also expressed a need for a shorter tactical knife, as not everyone requires a blade like a Roman legionary's sword. The knife features a full-tang construction with the Tactical Echelon handle, a signature design for Kizlyar Supreme's line of tactical knives. These handles have a distinctive profile that ensures a secure grip, both with bare hands and while wearing gloves. They are made from a combination of Kraton (a thermoplastic rubber with high resistance to cracking and abrasion) and ABS (a hard, impact-resistant polymer) with a grained texture. The Sturm models immediately became bestsellers, and Kizlyar Supreme periodically releases new versions with different materials, new colors, sometimes with different sheaths, and occasionally even with an altered blade geometry (see: Shturm AUS10Co_convex). The variant offered here is made from cryogenically hardened AUS10Co steel with a hardness of 61 HRC. The grind is a full flat grind. ABS handle and a multi-position sheath in a desert color.
The Dagestani company Kizlyar Supreme (not to be confused with Kizlyar, also from Dagestan) is one of the few Russian knife manufacturers widely known outside of Russia. Kizlyar Supreme focuses on combining the long-standing traditions of Caucasian knifemakers with the latest production technologies. Kizlyar Supreme products are the result of work by craftsmen who have been making knives for generations, but today they are equipped with state-of-the-art programmable machining centers and hardening furnaces.
