Storm
Description
A rescue knife derived from naval combat knives. It features a rectangular cross-section rubber handle, similar to other fleet knives like the Rekin or Katran models. The knife lacks a crossguard, which allows it to be reclassified from a combat weapon to a tool available for sale without a permit. This design made it possible to retain the original combat blade in the civilian version. The jimping on the spine provides a secure thumb rest for thrusting.
A batch of these knives was contracted from the SARO company by the EMERCOM (Ministry of Emergency Situations), a paramilitary organization responsible for coordinating rescue operations during natural disasters, catastrophes, and other emergencies. Because the knife's design allows it to be classified as not being a melee weapon ("cold weapon"), SARO sells it without requiring a permit. The blade has a matte, stonewash finish and is hardened to 55-57 HRC. It comes with a leather sheath with a Velcro fastener.
