Spas-2 (gilded pattern-welded damascus, leather handle, duralumin fittings)
Description
A field knife with a military touch – the first, long sold-out batch of Spas-2 knives was manufactured to order for the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation (МЧС РФ). This luxury gift variant of the Spas-2 is made of gilded pattern-welded damascus with a hardness of 59-61 HRC. Zlatoust damascus steels are distinguished by their high quality and exceptional aesthetics. The handle is made of leather rings stacked on a metal tang, finished with a duralumin bolster on one end and a pommel on the other. The pommel features a hole for attaching a lanyard or wrist loop. The spear point blade has a high hollow grind. Below the handle, the blade bears the gilded inscription: "Росоружие Златоуст" and the manufacturer's logo. The other side of the blade is adorned with an electro-gilded engraving depicting hunting motifs. There is a 6-centimeter saw on the spine. The black leather sheath is of a military type (with a frog), with the manufacturer's logo and the inscription Златоуст embossed on the belt loop. The knife is perfectly suited for a gift and could be called very practical, were it not simply too beautiful to be used.
The Zlatoust company is one of the few Russian knife manufacturers widely known beyond Russia's borders. It prides itself on a centuries-old tradition in the field of edged weapon manufacturing.
