Scorpio (karelian birch handle)
Description
A heavy-duty knife from Zlatoust in the Urals, inspired by the iconic "Antiterror" knife of the FSB Spetsnaz. The blade, featuring a flared tip and a distinctive grind, is found in many models from various manufacturers. In the Skorpion by AiR, the blade is exceptionally robust, matching the thickness of combat knives (6 mm). As a consequence, the Skorpion is designed completely without a guard; otherwise, under Russian law, it would be classified as a melee weapon. The blade is made from Russian 50x14MF steel, which is known for its good impact resistance. The manufacturing quality for which AiR is renowned, combined with these blade parameters, results in a very durable knife of above-average quality. Like all AiR knives, the Skorpion is released with various handles: a simple wooden handle, a more expensive and heavier leather handle with a duralumin bolster and pommel, and the most expensive handles made from premium and stabilized woods. The knife comes with a black leather sheath featuring a silent clasp and options for both vertical and horizontal carry.
AiR is one of the oldest companies specializing in knife production in Zlatoust, a place famous for its centuries-old blacksmithing tradition. All knives are sold with sheaths and are packaged in soft material cases.
