Saboteur
Description
Double edged combat dagger with a rubber handle. Blade made from Russian steel H12MF (Russian designation Х12МФ) with a hardness of 59-60 HRC. Classic two-edged blade with two symmetrical cutting edges separated by a fuller. Flat bevels. Rubber handle with a solid metal head and a double-directional clip. The double-edged design and double-directional clip are two features that unconditionally classify the knife as a bladed weapon in the sense of Russian regulations. Additionally, the thickness of the blade - 4 mm at the base of the blade, is too large for a civilian knife. Therefore Saboteur in Russia is considered a combat knife. Made from a Russian equivalent of D2 steel, it is probably produced in Russia. Even if most of the production is exported (the presented examples come from an export batch with Latin alphabet inscriptions and the name "Saboteur" instead of "Диверсант, it is also sold on the territory of the Russian Federation (although on a limited scale). The question is how they do it? Mr. Blade used a quite common tool on the American market: he sells disassembled knives. The customer assembles the parts himself and if he applies a crossguard, it's his problem. The last picture below shows a disassembled Saboteur in a configuration for the Russian domestic market.
The knife is sold with a plastic sheath. The knife can be carried with the handle at the bottom.
"Mr. Blade" is a company dealing with designing knives, registered in Prague by a few Russian knifemakers. They design knives more for the Western market, so most of them have something hipstery or quirky about them, although they themselves prefer to call them "designer". They probably do not have their own production base, at least not one worth mentioning, and they order the implementation of their designs where it is more convenient, a bit in the Russian Federation and a bit in China. However, they pay properly because the quality of the assembly is very good. Mr. Blade has gained a few popular models and at international exhibitions (they do not come to Poland) people always queue up in front of their stand.
