Description

Chromium-added stainless bulat from the Zhbanov forge. A few words about the term "stainless bulat", which is itself an oxymoron. It is commonly known that historical bulats contained iron and carbon. The only admixture revealed in historical products on a larger scale was phosphorus (up to 0.15%). Contemporary Russian manufacturers try to produce knives from a material as close as possible to historical bulat, i.e., carbon. The problem with carbon bulat is that it is corrosive, and the customer may get upset if they find pitting on a knife worth several tens of thousands of rubles from a few drops of dew that they did not wipe off the previous day. Therefore, Russian blacksmiths sometimes add chromium to the alloy, and what is created is called "stainless bulat". This category includes knives from the Zhbanov forge, also known as the "Bulat noz" company. All stainless bulats from Zhbanov are hardened in such a way that the hardness on the cutting edge is 64 and on the butt 62 HRC.

Sable is a practical general-purpose blade with a partial, hollow grind from half the width of the blade. The handle is composed of two pieces of wood and leather rings between them. The duralumin crossguard prevents your hand from slipping onto the blade when stabbing. Leather sheath, brown, Finnish type, with decorative embossing.
