A heavy-duty field knife featuring a double-sided guard. The blade is crafted from AUS-8 steel, hardened to 57-58 HRC. It has a drop point profile with a straight spine drop and a false edge on the tip. The grind is a partial hollow grind. Although the blade length (16 cm) isn't staggering for a field knife, the SH-8 is quite heavy, weighing 317g without the sheath. This is due to the blade and tang thickness exceeding 4.5 mm, which is substantial. This feature, along with the presence of a full-fledged double-sided guard, means that in the Russian Federation, the SH-8 is subject to trade restrictions as a melee weapon under Russian law. It is available only to military personnel, hunters, and officers of law enforcement agencies, as indicated by the serial number located on the spine below the guard. Upon purchase, this number is recorded in the military service book or official ID. The blade also features the manufacturer's hologram and the inscription "Кизляр сделано в России" (Kizlyar made in Russia), while the other side displays "Ш-8" and the manufacturer's logo. The handle is made of Elastron, and it comes with a leather sheath that includes a plastic insert and a silent-opening clasp.
