Rif (gilded pattern welded damascus, birch bark handle)
Description
A gilded pattern welded damascus knife made by Zlatoust. Zlatoust Damascus steel is characterized by its high quality and exceptional aesthetics. The handle is made of birch bark (rings of bark strung on the tang), ending with a pommel on one side and a butt cap made of textolite on the other. Such handles are as light as a feather, and in winter they are "warmer" compared to wooden ones. However, they are not impregnated with anything and should be avoided from getting wet. At the end of the handle there is a hole allowing for attaching a lanyard or wrist strap. The blade with a partially concave grind is decorated on one side with a gilded hunting-themed drawing using galvanic method. On the other side, under the handle, on the blade there is a gilded inscription: "Rosoruzhie Zlatoust" and the manufacturers logo. A black, leather, sheath, with the manufacturers logo and inscription embossed on the backZlatoust.
Zlatoust company is one of several Russian knife manufacturers widely known outside of Russia. It boasts a centuries-old tradition in the field of edged weapons production. The gilding, in which the Ural Zlatoust is the undisputed leader among Russian companies, looks exceptionally well on dark Damascus blades.
