Rhino (birch bark handle)
Description
A skinning knife with a handle made of birch bark and wenge wood. The bark rings are threaded onto the tang and compressed between two pieces of wood, in this case wenge. This handle construction, very lightweight and practical, is often found in Finnish knives. In this particular case, a lightweight handle weighted only with a brass ring at the base of the blade is combined with a very thick blade for skinning, as is typical for Damascus steel. Partially concave grind.
