Ranger Puukko M95 (80CRV2, black coated blade, black handle, olive kydex sheath)
Description
The Ranger Puukko M95 is the first in the family of the so-called Peltonen puukko knives – the model from which the M07 and Ranger Cub M23 are derived. Like the other models, it comes in various material and color options, but they all share the same idea of a maximally utilitarian and durable knife. Like most sensible knives, the M95 is as simple as a hammer. It features 80CRV2 carbon steel – prone to corrosion, but offering high impact strength, toughness, and ease of sharpening. Hardness of 59 HRC. The blade is a classic puukko style: a drop point with a minimal slope near the tip. It has a straight, parallel spine and cutting edge. It features a partial flat grind and a thin-film ceramic anti-corrosive and anti-reflective coating. In this variant, the classic composite sheath, typical for Peltonen knives, has been replaced with a slightly more expensive kydex sheath with lashing holes along the edges. The handle is made of thermoplastic. The knife has a tight fit in the sheath, so it can be carried handle-down if desired. The sheath has a belt loop for a wide belt, but it can be removed for those who prefer fancy tek-lok mounting systems.
