Ranger Puukko M07 (80CRV2, blackened blade, black handle, black kydex sheath)
Description
The Ranger Puukko M07 is one of the three basic models from the Peltonen "puukko" knife family, slightly shorter than the M95. Like the other models, it is released in various material and color versions, but they all share the same idea of a maximally utilitarian and durable knife. Like most sensible knives, the M07 is as simple as a hammer. It features 80CRV2 carbon steel, which is prone to corrosion but offers high impact strength, durability, and ease of sharpening. The hardness is 59 HRC. The blade is a classic puukko drop point with a minimal drop at the tip. It has a straight, parallel spine and cutting edge. The knife has a partial flat grind and a thin-film ceramic coating for anti-corrosion and anti-reflection. In this version, the classic Peltonen composite sheath has been replaced with a slightly more expensive Kydex sheath with lashing holes on the edges. The handle is made of thermoplastic. The knife fits tightly in the sheath, so if one insists, it can be carried handle-down. The sheath has a loop for a wide belt, but it can be removed for those who prefer fancy Tek-Lok attachments.
