Description

The Ranger Cub M23 is the smallest of the Peltonen knives, in this variant with a leather sheath. It is not a puukko but a small utility knife, sized to qualify as an EDC knife that can also be carried in the city without drawing attention. Like the manufacturer's other knives, it is released in various material and color options, but they all share the same idea of a maximally utilitarian and durable knife. The 80CRV2 carbon steel is prone to corrosion but has high impact strength, durability, and is easy to sharpen. The knife is zone-hardened, the cutting edge has a hardness of 62 HRC, and the spine has a hardness of 59 HRC. The blade has a triangular profile with a partial flat grind. This version of the knife does not have a ceramic anti-corrosion coating. The handle is made of black thermoplastic, and the sheath is black leather. This variant of the Ranger Cub is not well-suited for neck carry with the handle facing down.
