Predator (walnut handle)
Description
A robust hunting knife made of D2 steel, manufactured by the Kizlyar company from Dagestan. The blade is made of D2 steel hardened to 58-60 HRC. It features a drop point profile with a straight swedge from the midpoint of the spine towards the tip. The swedge section of the spine is ground to a false edge. This false edge can neither slice nor cut anything, but it can be used in situations where one would not want to damage the cutting edge. For instance, in the Soviet army, metal ammunition boxes, so-called "tsynki" had closures that needed to be pried open with something. The handle is wooden, likely walnut, smooth, and weighted with decorative brass castings.
Below the handle on the blade, there is an inscription "Хищник D-2," and on the other side, "Кизляр сделано в России" and the manufacturer's logo. The sheath is a black, slip-on, Finnish-style leather sheath.
Kizlyar prides itself on combining the ancient traditions of Caucasian craftsmen specializing in cold weapons with new production technologies.
