Description
Heavy field knife with a massive and highly aesthetic pattern-welded Damascus steel blade. Drop point profile, high, slightly hollow grind. Along two-thirds of its length from the tip, the spine is slightly ground, though not to a full false edge. At the base of the blade, on the cutting edge side, there is a finger choil for the index finger. The knife was purchased in Russia but manufactured in Uzbekistan by a blacksmith/knifemaker from Fergana. The Damascus pattern is highly aesthetic, but its hardness does not match Russian Damascus steels (it is around 56-58 HRC, whereas in Russia, Damascus is hardened to 59-62 HRC). Massive bolster with a guard function, featuring decorations (mother of pearl, red-and-black ornamental patterns) typical for pchak-type knife bolsters. Push-tang handle made of argali horn. Leather sheath with a snap fastener closure. Compared to Russian sheaths, the leather is thinner.
