Nord-2 (gilded pattern welded damascus, karelian birch bark handle)
Description
A knife produced by Zlatoust, made of the so-called pattern welded damascus. Zlatoust Damasts are distinguished by high quality and unique aesthetics. Massive blade (thickness at the head: 5 mm) with an arched finger depression on the back and a slightly smaller blunting on the blade side. The spine is straight, falling towards the engraving in a straight line, ground along its entire length to a false blade. Partial concave grinding. One side of the blade is decorated with a gold-plated drawing on hunting motifs. On the other side, under the handle, there is a gilded inscription made using the same method: "Росоружие Златоуст" and the manufacturer's logo. The handle is made of leather rings strung on a tang, finished with white duralumin fittings on both sides - the head and the bolster. There is a hole at the end of the handle that allows you to attach a lanyard or wrist loop. Leather sheath, smooth, black, with the manufacturer's logo and inscription embossed on the back of the loop: "Златоуст". Very nice knife, but quite heavy - 264 gr without sheath.
The Zlatoust company is one of several Russian knife manufacturers widely known outside Russia. It boasts several hundred years of tradition in the production of cold weapons. Gilding, in which the Uralic Zlatoust is the undisputed leader among Russian companies, looks exceptionally well on dark damascus blades.
