NR-43 (AUS8, "cherry" type handle)
Description
A knife reflecting a new trend in the Russian knife market. Clones of the most widespread knives of military origin from the Soviet period are increasingly appearing in Russia. Models such as the NKVD finnish knife, NR (reconnaissance knives) of various modifications, or aviation penknives with two blades are still remembered by everyone who served their basic military service until the end of the 1990s, and this is still a significant part of the male population. Manufacturers consciously reach for these blade and handle shapes that evoke nostalgic associations with the era of the Soviet empire, which also explains the appearance of communist symbols on the handles, which were not really placed there even "during communism".
In the knife presented here from the Siomina company, the NR-43 profile blade made of AUS-8 steel has been lightened compared to the original (shorter, thinner, and with a fuller) to avoid classifying the knife as a bladed weapon, which in the Russian Federation would require a permit. A classic plastic "cherry" type handle with a simple guard and a metal plate on the head. The whole is complemented by a leather sheath with a snap button fastening. As a result, we get a very lightweight tourist knife. An ideal gift for gentlemen who like military themes.
