NR-18 (coyote)
Description
This new field knife model is a nod to the iconic NR knives, military knives used in the Red Army since the early 1940s. The knife is made of stainless steel in a hidden tang construction (a wide tang overmolded with Elastron). The steel used is AUS-8 with a hardness of 57-59 HRC. The abbreviation NR stands for "nozh razvedchika" (нож разведчика), meaning scout's knife. These knives remained in military service long after the war. The NR-18 is not an exact replica. The clipped point profile, typical for the original NR knives, has been replaced with a drop point with a dagger-like tip. The blade has a black finish and a high hollow grind. The handle is made of coyote-colored Elastron, and the sheath is made of ABS plastic.
