Description
Melita K company from Kazan (Tatarstan) is among the top Russian knife manufacturers, including those classified as combat knives. The latter are made to order for the Russian Federation's security forces. Melita prides itself on using its own patented stainless steel (70X16МФС) surpassingother stainless steels in terms of hardness and flexibility. It also often uses camouflage coating on the blade.
Melita K's civilian Irbis-2 is sold in Russia without permits, although it is a copy of a military knife, differing only in the lack of a guard. Rubber handle, with a hole in the pommel for a wrist lanyard. Flat-ground blade, with a fuller, quite thick (almost 6 mm at the ricasso) for a knife of this length. The spine is ground to a false edge for 4.5 cm on the tang. Leather sheath of the Finnish type.
