General AUS8
Description
A simple field knife from RedSteel, a Russian manufacturer of various tools, including knives. Currently, the General is produced in two variants: one made of 420HC steel, a mass-produced stainless steel, and one of AUS8, a slightly more expensive stainless steel that is very popular among knifemakers. In the AUS8 variant, the knife has a hardness of 58 HRC. The first of the photos below is from the manufacturer's catalog, the rest are actual photos of an item from our warehouse.
RedSteel makes tools, but they are branded tools. The General features a full tang construction with walnut handle scales. It has a high flat grind. The sheath is made of leather, but it is not really a sheath, more of a leather blade cover – it does not have a belt loop.
One more word about the RedSteel company: it is not entirely clear to me whether it is a company or rather a product line name. The fact is that RedSteel products are made from start to finish at the Kizlyar Supreme production facility.
