Description
An interesting skeleton knife with a hollow handle to reduce weight. The blade is quite thick, 4.5 mm at the heel, rather too much for such a short blade. Too much for a knife, but just right for a spear tip. The handle, or tang of the knife, is wrapped with twine, with the tang itself having been cut in half, which reduces its weight and makes it easier to attach the knife to a staff. Japanese 420J1 rust-resistant steel, analogous to Russian 65x13 and American 440A.
