Forester N690
Description
Classic bushcrafter made of powder steel from Kizlyar Supreme company. Designed together with members of Russian survival group "Lesni" (Лесные). The word "designed" may seem out of place, because the knife is simple like a hammer, but every element is thought out and constitutes a conscious choice. Firstly: full tang construction, but this is a standard in Kizlar Supreme knives. Secondly: low polish, which is not immediately obvious, because such blades are harder to sharpen, but "Lesni" seems to value durability over convenience. No unnecessary details when it comes to profile: a simple straight back parallel to the blade edge and a symmetrical drop point on the blade. And finally: the choice of material: Bohler N690 powder steel with a hardness corresponding to D2 (60-61 HRC) but even more resistant to corrosion. With simple wooden handle scales with small serrations attached with screws. Leather sheath, push-through, with the inscription "Kizlyar Supreme".
Dagestan-based company Kizlyar Supreme (not to be confused with Kizlyar from Dagestan) is one of a few Russian makers of knives known abroad. Kizlyar Supreme combines old Caucasian knife-making traditions with modern technologies of production. Kizlyar Supreme products are the result of work of craftsmen from generations making knives, who now have access to modern, programmable machining centers and heat treatment furnaces.
