Like most knife manufacturers active in the Russian market, during the war in Ukraine, the Siomina company began to release tactical knife models aimed at customers mobilized into the army. Many of them independently source their own equipment where permissible, choosing items that are more comfortable than standard issue army boots, thermal underwear, or even primitive compact hunting seats, known colloquially in the Russian army as 'subass'. This also applies to knives, which, while retaining full functionality, are usually lighter than what can be issued from the supply depot. Siomina introduced practical changes to several models that had been in its offer for years in more expensive versions. These are the NKVD Finn knife and the NR-43 scout knife, which are iconic in Russia, in civilian variants, meaning they do not require a permit in Russia. All have been fitted with new plastic sheaths with two loops, one wide for a belt and a second, narrower one at the bottom of the sheath useful for lashing the knife down. The sheath has a special clip that also allows the knife to be carried in a handle-down position. All knives have military-style double guards. The handles, made of black or olive Elastron, are fitted over the tang, some with the popular round-profile shape known as 'vishnya' (cherry). The blades are quite thin, made from 95x18 or U8 steel. In any material configuration, the knife's weight does not exceed 240g. Blades made from 95x18 steel have a stonewash finish that makes them non-reflective.
