Fenix combat (U8)
Description
This is a large and heavy combat knife with a full tang construction, featuring textolite handle scales and a double-sided crossguard. The massive blade is crafted from U8 steel, hardened to 58-59 HRC, and includes a characteristic reinforcing swedge typical of Kizlyar models (aptly named "stiffness rib" in Russian). It has a spear point profile with a high hollow grind and a false edge on the spine. The blade thickness (5.1 mm) and the presence of a full guard mean that in the Russian Federation, the Phoenix is classified as a restricted melee weapon under Russian law. It is available only to military personnel, hunters, and law enforcement officers, as indicated by the serial number located on the blade below the guard. Upon purchase, this number is recorded in the owner's military or service ID book. The blade also features the manufacturer's hologram and the inscription "Кизляр сделано в России У8" ("Kizlyar made in Russia U8"), while the other side displays "Феникс-Комбат" ("Phoenix-Combat") and the manufacturer's logo. The knife comes with a beautiful leather sheath with decorative embossing and a snap button closure above the guard.
Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, the Russian Federation has banned the export of numbered (i.e., combat) knives. Therefore, once our current stock is sold out, these models will become completely unavailable for some time.
The Kizlyar company from Dagestan is one of the few Russian knife manufacturers widely known outside of Russia. Kizlyar prides itself on combining the ancient traditions of Caucasian craftsmen, who specialized in producing melee weapons, with modern production technologies.
