Compańero AUS-10Co (G-10 handle)
Description
A new material variant of the Compañero knife, this time made of AUS-10Co steel. The handle is only slightly wider than the blade, seemingly tailored for a small female hand. The tang scales are made of red and black G-10. The blade thickness is not overwhelming at 2.6 mm, but the Compañero has an advantage that is not immediately apparent, providing it with a large reserve of durability. This is its rather rare blade geometry: the knife has a convex grind. The only other knives in our store with such a grind are the Ural in Sleipner steel and the Shturm in AUS-10Co. It features a full tang construction, a standard that Kizlar Supreme always adheres to. The AUS-10Co steel undergoes cryogenic treatment (quenching in liquid nitrogen). Hardness is 60 HRC. The sheath is made of embossed leather.
The Dagestani company Kizlyar Supreme (not to be confused with Kizlyar, also from Dagestan) is one of several Russian knife manufacturers widely known outside of Russia. Kizlyar Supreme focuses on combining the old traditions of Caucasian knife makers with the latest production technologies. Kizlar Supreme products are the result of the manual work of craftsmen who have been making knives for generations, except today they have at their disposal the most modern programmable machining centers and hardening furnaces.
