Bowie (cocobolo wood handle scales)
Description
A heavy hunting knife (930 gr with sheath), which is perfect as a cleaver and machete. The full tang (batch assembly scheme of the Forester blade does not seem to be accepted at all) but in this case this design seems to be the only appropriate one. Cuchilleria Forester offers these knives in three variants: with ram's horn handle scales (the most expensive), with wooden scales and with micarta handles. The massive blade with a classic bowie profile has a low hollow grind. Above the grinding lines, not completely smoothed out forging marks were left. The blade is separated from the handle by a prominent stainless steel cross guard. The blade material is Spanish MV-58 stainless steel with a hardness of 56-58 HRC. In smaller knives, maximum hardness is sought, and where the blade is also used for chopping, a lower value of around 56 HRC is allowed. The blade is engraved with the J&V Adventure Knives emblem (trade brand of the Cuchilleria Forester factory), the inscription "Bowie Handwork in Spain" and the steel brand marking. Leather sheath, brown, can be worn vertically or horizontally.
Forester is one of the few old Spanish manufacturers that has resisted pressure to move production to China. The knives are still not only designed but also manufactured in the Forester factory in Albacete, Spain.
