Baikal D2 (orange handle, kydex sheath)
Description
This Baikal D2 model featuring an orange handle is now paired with a kydex sheath, replacing the previous leather version. The knife itself remains unchanged: it has a reasonably sized blade with a high grind and a swedge that resembles the false edge on a saber's point. Like most Kizlyar Supreme knives, the Baikal is a full tang construction with G10 handle scales. The scales are textured with a pattern that enhances grip, reminiscent of the checkering on firearm stocks.
The Dagestani company Kizlyar Supreme (not to be confused with Kizlyar, also from Dagestan) is one of several Russian knife manufacturers widely known outside of Russia. Kizlyar Supreme focuses on combining the old traditions of Caucasian knifemakers with the latest production technologies. Kizlyar Supreme products are the result of the manual work of craftsmen who have been making knives for generations, but who now have at their disposal state-of-the-art programmable machining centers and hardening furnaces.
