Ataman (gilded pattern welded damascus, karelian birch bark handle)
Description
A large hunting knife manufactured by Zlatoust, made of the so-called pattern welded damascus. Zlatoust Damasts are distinguished by high quality and unique aesthetics. The handle is made of birch bark rings strung on a metal pin, finished with pieces of textolite on both sides - a handle and a head. There is a hole in the head that allows you to attach a lanyard or wrist loop. A massive trialing point blade with a tip curved upwards like in Uzbek pchaks is decorated on one side with a gold-plated drawing. On the other side, under the handle, on the blade, there is a gilded inscription made using the same method: "Росоружие Златоуст" and the manufacturer's logo. Leather sheath, black, with the manufacturer's logo and the inscription "Златоуст" embossed on the back of the loop.
The Zlatoust company is one of several Russian knife manufacturers widely known outside Russia. It boasts several hundred years of tradition in the production of cold weapons. Gilding, in which the Uralic Zlatoust is the undisputed leader among Russian companies, looks exceptionally well on dark damascus blades.
