Description

Hand-forged knife made of 9XC tool steel. This steel is used to manufacture metalworking tools such as drills and milling cutters. 9XC is a Russian designation. The number 9 means that the steel contains 0.9% carbon. The letters (of course, in the Cyrillic alphabet) "X" and "C" denote chromium (Cr) and silicon (Si), respectively, of which there is not less than 1.5%. Knives and axes made of this steel appeared on the Russian market relatively recently. These are always forged products; they are not produced by stamping or rolling. To emphasize this, manufacturers often leave forging marks on the blades. This is also the case here; the blade is not polished, forging marks are left on the entire blade and back (rickenback).

9XC knives are hardened to 60-62 HRC, axes to 55-57 HRC.

The Anchar has a long and narrow blade in the style of old Russian knives carried behind the boot. The wooden handle is finished on both sides with melchior castings. The metal handle head is decorated with a double-headed imperial eagle and the manufacturer's monogram. Finnish-type sheath, push-in, made of brown leather.
