Yakutian middle size (95x18 steel, karelian birch handle)
Description
A replica of a Yakutian knife made of stainless steel with a handle of Karelian birch (unstabilized). Yakutian knives repeat the form of historical knives originally made from split animal bones. Therefore, one side of the blade, the one without a groove, is slightly convex, which is not visible or not very clearly visible in the picture. The groove (fuller) on the other side stiffens the blade and also saves material and reduces weight. At the base of the blade under the handle, laser-engravedinscription: "Ручная работа сталь 95x18 кованая" and the manufacturer's monogram. The blade is forged but smoothly ground, no forging marks are left. The handle is made of Karelian birch without any guard or thickening that would protect the hand from slipping onto the blade. This is a drawback, but these knives simply were like that. Probably, to use it efficiently, you need to be Yakut. The sheath is a slip sheath, differing from original Yakutian sheaths in that it has a classic belt loop, and is not just tied to clothing with leather straps.
