Yakutian medium (pattern welded damascus)
Description
A replica of a Yakut knife made of forged Damascus steel. Yakut knives repeat the form of historical knives originally made from split animal bones. Therefore, one side of the blade, the one without a groove, is slightly convex, which is not visible in the picture. The groove on the other side of the blade stiffens it and also saves material and reduces weight. The forging marks have been deliberately left on it. The handle is made of Karelian birch without any guard or thickening that would protect the hand from slipping onto the blade. This is a certain drawback, but these knives simply were like that. Probably to use it efficiently you have to be Yakut. The leather sheath also repeats the form of the original sheaths, it has a loop for wearing on a belt, but also a leather strap, with which the sheath was originally tied to the belt.
