Description
NDK-15 clone produced by the Siomin company from Novgorod. A few words about what NDK is: the acronym stands for Nozh Diversionnyj Kochergin (rus. нож диверсионный Кочергина), or Kochergin Sabotage Knife. The knife was conceived as a weapon from the very beginning, although at first glance it looks like an over-engineered survival tool, adapted to the Russian market (lack of a handguard). The knife was designed by Andrey Kochergin and, as mentioned, is intended as a combat weapon that maximally meets the requirements of the knife fighting system developed at the Center for Applied Research (rus. Центр Прикладных Исследований) in Saint Petersburg. The system is characterized by a prevalence of cutting techniques over thrusts, which may to some extent explain the absence of a guard, but the limitations of Russian law, with its distinction between civilian and combat knives, are certainly a significant factor. In this form, according to Russian standards, NDKs are classified as utility knives. Originally, the knife had a 17 cm blade (NDK17), and later a shorter version (NDK15) was created. The Wicher is made of 65x13 stainless steel (a Russian equivalent of 420 steel) with a hardness of 54-56 HRC. Like all NDKs, it features a full tang construction. The handle scales are wooden, attached with two screws. It has a partial, low, flat, single-sided grind. The blade features the manufacturers logo with the inscription "Ручная работа 65x13" (Handmade 65x13). The sheath is made of brown or black (randomly selected) artificial leather, with a belt loop and a two-snap button closure.
Below the knife photos, you will find an NDK diagram with descriptions in Russian and a photo of the designer demonstrating the correct grip.
