Shogun
Description
An expensive variation on the Japanese tanto in terms of materials used. The blade is made of Uzbek pattern-welded Damascus steel, combining R260 steel (or its analogue sourced from a rail) and a high-carbon tool steel. Additionally, it contains nickel – which creates those silver veins on the blade. The blade profile is an American tanto, which actually has very little in common with feudal Japan (inspired by Japanese daggers, it was invented by Lynn Thompson, the founder of Cold Steel, in the early 1980s). The handle and sheath are made of stabilized, brightly dyed burl wood. To make it truly lavish, there are mammoth tooth inserts in both the handle and the sheath. The bolster/guard is of a type frequently seen on Russian Damascus knives. The entire set comes with a wooden display stand.
