Finka Leuku (H12MF steel)
Description
Leuku are traditional knives from the northern parts of Finland, Sweden and Norway. True Leuku knives from centuries ago were forged from carbon steel, but today manufacturers often use more corrosion-resistant materials. This knife is made of Russian semi-stainless steel (semi stainless) H12MF with high hardness (60-62 HRC). The blades have a characteristic profile: a straight back, completely without a drop (or with a minimal drop) at the end and a slight widening from the blade side at the tang, which provides better cutting when pulling the knife towards oneself. Partially concave grind. The manufacturer's monogram and the inscription: "ОКСКИЕ НОЖИ СТАЛЬ Н12МФ" are engraved on the blade under the handle. Duralumin bolster.
The handle is composed of three pieces of wood: wenge at the ends and red African padauk in the middle.
The lack of a guard is noteworthy; perhaps this is a feature of knives of all northern peoples – in this respect, Scandinavian puukkos are very reminiscent of Yakut knives.
