Baikal K340 G10
Description
A 2020 release from the Kizlyar Supreme company, purportedly designed by the Kalashnikov Concern. I say purportedly, because it is likely just a joint marketing project to which Kizlyar Supreme contributes the product itself and Kalashnikov lends its brand name. Whatever the case, the knife turned out quite clever: a reasonably sized blade with a high grind and a swedge resembling the false edge on a saber point. In this version, the blade features distinctive cutouts, like those on the barrels of Kalashnikov rifles. This is a purely designer flair, having no practical purpose (unless someone were to slice bread at the speed of four thousand slices per minute). The blade has a tacwash finish, making it slightly grayish. Like most Kizlyar Supreme knives, the Baikal is a full tang construction. The black G10 tang scales are covered with ribbing that improves grip, reminiscent of the texturing on firearm forends. The sheath is made of black leather. The first of the photos below is from the manufacturer's catalog, the others are real photos of an item from our warehouse.
The Dagestani company Kizlyar Supreme (not to be confused with Kizlyar, also from Dagestan) is one of several Russian knife manufacturers widely known outside of Russia. Kizlyar Supreme focuses on combining the old traditions of Caucasian knife makers with the latest production technologies. Kizlyar Supreme products are the result of the manual work of craftsmen who have been making knives for generations, except that today they have at their disposal the most modern programmable machining centers and hardening furnaces.
