Baikal D2
Description
A 2020 novelty from Kizlyar Supreme, allegedly designed by the Kalashnikov Concern. I say allegedly because it's probably just a joint marketing project, where Kizlyar Supreme provides the product and Kalashnikov lends its brand name. Regardless, the knife turned out well: a reasonably sized blade with a high polish and a ground spine resembling a sabre hilt feather. Like most Kizlyar Supreme knives, the Baikal is made in a full tang design with G10 handles. The handles are covered with knurling improving grip, similar to the knurling on firearm stocks. The Baikal is produced in two versions: with D2 steel and orange handles, and with K340 steel and brown handles. Leather sheaths, black.
The Dagestani company Kizlyar Supreme (not to be confused with Kizlyar, also from Dagestan) is one of several Russian knife manufacturers known widely beyond the borders of Russia. Kizlyar Supreme focuses on combining the old traditions of Caucasian knife makers with the latest production technologies. Kizlyar Supreme products are the result of the work of artisans who have been making knives for generations, but today they have access to state-of-the-art programmable machining centers and heat treatment furnaces.
