Basmach
Description
Designed by the founder of the NOKS company, Igor Skrylov, this full tang field knife is based on a Central Asian pchak. The Basmacz is essentially a pchak stripped of its Eastern ornamentation, simplified, strengthened (blade thickness at the bolster is 4 mm), and "adapted" to the Russian style. The wavy cutting edge – unusual for pchaks – improves cutting. The partially concave grind – same thing, but try breaking a blade like that. And the steel – non-corrosive AUS8. The tang scales are mounted on screws, with a round cross-section and widening at the end, which improves grip, even with gloves. There is a hole at the end of the tang for a lanyard or wrist strap. Leather sheath, push-in type, Finnish style. The knife is well-balanced, sits well in the hand, and if you like this blade profile you will be satisfied. But there's not a gram of sadaf anywhere – a true basmacz would be offended.
