Basmach-2
Description
The first knives from the Basmacz series, produced by NOKS, were designed by the company's founder, Igor Skrylow. After his death, Alexander Biriukov took over as chief designer. He created the Basmacz-2 – closer to its Asian prototype thanks to the preservation of a full flat grind, typical for these knives, blade made of D2 steel. As for the rest, similarly to Skrylow's Basmacz knives, utilitarian considerations prevailed over tradition. All ornaments disappeared, the inset handle assembly was replaced with a full tang design with wooden scales profiled for a comfortable grip, without maintaining the traditional round cross-section. Blade thickness at the butt over 3 mm. Such a knife works great in the field, and not only for preparing meals.
