Dyed grooved camel bone 2
Description
Convex scales made of dyed camel bone with dimensions of 130 x 40 x 5 (at the thickest point) mm. The convex side of the bone pieces is grooved and has carved patterns, while the underside is roughly, but not perfectly, flat, thus requiring a flexible liner (spacer) between the knife tang and the bone itself. Grooved scales, even those not of the largest size, have the aesthetic and practical advantage of providing a more secure grip, both with a bare hand and in a glove, than smooth scales.
